About the Post

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) was founded in 1920 and chartered in the District of Columbia on December 5, 1924 “in the interests of National Defense; to advance knowledge of the science of military engineering; to promote efficiency in the military engineer service of the United States; to encourage, foster, and develop between military engineers and other arms of the military service a spirit of co-operation and a mutual understanding of their respective duties, powers, and limitations; and to encourage, foster, and develop relations of helpful interest between the engineering profession in civil life and that in the military service.”

The mission of the SAME Kittyhawk Post is to further promote SAME’s overall mission to private and government professionals in the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley Regions. The SAME overall mission is “to provide education and support to the engineering components of the military and uniformed services and other federal, state and local government agencies responsible for the nation’s infrastructure, and to advance the partnership between government and the architecture, engineering and construction industry in the interest of national security.” Select the SAME 2014-2019 Strategic Plan for more information.

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the premier professional military engineering association in the United States, unites architecture, engineering construction (A/E/C), facility management and environmental entities and individuals in the public and private sectors to prepare for—and overcome—natural and manmade disasters, and to improve security at home and abroad.
