President’s Message 171115
SAME has a strategic goal of:
By 2020: SAME will be recognized nationally as a leader in STEM initiatives at the primary and secondary school levels. Partnerships with diverse organizations (such as Boy and Girl Scouts of America, Department of Defense Schools and others) contributes to enhancing the positive image of the profession among youth and leads to producing engineers and allied professionals.
To this end, Joe DiMisa brought to the Kittyhawk Post a way to get two for one. One the Life Scouts in Joe’s Troop 316, in Centerville, Ohio, wanted to do his Eagle Scout Project to benefit the Fisher House on Wright-Patterson AFB. This being one of the Kittyhawk Post’s charities that we support on an on-going basis, this was a natural fit. Kittyhawk Post was able to support the Fisher House, as well as partner with a Boy Scout Troop, and a boy working on his Eagle rank by funding the materials for four deck chairs and two tables for use at Fisher House #1, at Wright-Patterson AFB.
Jim Levy represented our post during the construction of the chairs and tables and I was fortunate enough and proud to represent the Kittyhawk Post at the presentation of the chairs and tables to the Fisher House.
